The group claims the animals are left in small crates for extended periods of time.

Shelter president Lisa Shaw has denied the allegations, saying the volunteers are “disgruntled.”

According to city records, an animal control officer found Shaw’s home to be in violation of city ordinance due to the 51 cats and several dogs that were on the property.

Shaw says she was unaware of the ordinance and is working to get a permit.
