ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Ty’lik Evans scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Savannah State beat South Carolina State 94-81 on Thursday night to clinch a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.

Austin Dasent had 16 points, while Dexter McClanahan, Zach Sellers and Javaris Jenkins scored 15 apiece for Savannah State. The Tigers (15-16, 12-4), who finished the regular season tied atop the conference standings with Bethune-Cookman and Hampton, will be the No. 3 seed, and have a first-round bye, in the MEAC Tournament.

Dasent and Maricus Glenn each scored four points during an 8-0 opening run and Savannah State never trailed. James Richardson’s layup pulled the Bulldogs within six points at the break, but they would get no closer. Jenkins hit a 3-pointer to push the lead into double figures for good and spark a 15-0 run that made it 70-46 with nearly 13 minutes to play. Sellers scored eight points, including two 3s, during the spurt.

Patrell Rogers had 24 points, Richardson scored 15 and Rayshwan Neal added 12 points and eight rebounds for South Carolina State (10-20, 6-8).
