Utah’s only sled dog race begins today in Cache County

LOGAN – Utah’s only dog sled race, the Cache Valley Sled Dog Challenge, is taking place today and tomorrow at the Sinks Trail Head in Logan Canyon.

Maren Gibson, who has been with the group for the last six or seven years, said the race is sponsored by Arctic Rescue out of Payson, Utah.

“We have people that come to the race who actually compete in other dog sled races out of state,” she said. “We have people who are just up there with their kids and family who have a couple dogs who just want to get out on the trail. We have people who ski. It is just kind of a broad range of individuals that show up for the race. It’s a great family sport and of course you can’t beat the Sinks Trailhead.”

Gibson said there are signs marking the trail entrance in the Beaver area.
