LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 20-year-old Logan man suspected of raping a teenage girl. Juan Valdovinos-Sanchez was booked Friday into the Cache County Jail.

Sheriff Chad Jensen said deputies were called to a Logan residence Friday afternoon, looking for two girls that had reportedly runaway. Inside the home, they found the girls and Valdovinos-Sanchez. They also discovered various drugs and paraphernalia.

Valdovinos-Sanchez was arraigned in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He appeared by video from jail. He was charged earlier in the day with rape, a first-degree felony, furnishing drugs to a juvenile, a third-degree felony, and providing alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

During the video arraignment, state attorney Griffin Hazard asked the court to hold Valdovinos-Sanchez without bail. He explained to the court that deputies believe the suspect has ties to Mexico and is a flight risk.

Judge Kevin Allen ordered Valdovinos-Sanchez to appear in court Tuesday morning, and remain in jail without bail.
