North Logan schools temporarily placed on lockdown after domestic assault

Several North Logan schools were temporarily placed on lockdown Thursday, after a domestic assault allegedly occurred in a nearby home. The lockdown was around 2 p.m. and lasted only a few minutes.

According to a press release from the North Park Police Department, officers were called to a residence near 2700 N 300 E, on report of a dispute between a teenage boy and his mother. The juvenile allegedly assaulted the woman and then fled the home on foot.

Officers were told the teen suspect had a knife. When they tried to make contact with him, he fled, running through the neighborhood.

Law enforcement from around the valley responded to the scene. They set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and were able to track the teenager’s footprints in the snow. He was located a block away, and was taken into custody without incident.

According to the press release, Greenville Elementary, Thomas Edison, and Green Canyon High School were all placed on lockdown during the incident as a precaution.

The teenage suspect was taken by officers to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The North Park Police Department expressed appreciation to all of the law enforcement agencies that helped quickly resolve the incident.
