…Snow and gusty winds through Friday evening across the central

mountains mainly impacting the Sawtooths…

Snow will pick up today across the central mountains and continue

through Friday evening. The bulk of snow will fall across the

Sawtooths AND above 7500 feet. Look for 5 to 10 inches with

locally higher amounts. At or below that elevation, look for

anywhere from a trace to 3 inches, mainly falling during the

nighttime and morning hours. Gusty winds will persist, with top

speeds of 25 to 35 mph producing some blowing and drifting mainly

at or above pass level. The snow and wind quickly end late in the

evening.

Light snow will pick up this afternoon and continue tonight across

the eastern highlands from Island Park south to around Palisades

Reservoir. Snow will gradually increase Friday, peaking the

afternoon and evening hours. Snow amounts of 2 to 7 inches are

possible, with higher end amounts above 6500 feet. Winds will be

gusty at higher elevations through Friday morning, becoming more

widespread Friday afternoon and evening. Gusts of 25 to 30 mph

tonight, increasing to 25 to 35 mph Friday will produce some

pockets of blowing and drifting snow. The snow and wind will end

early Saturday morning.
