NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson said in a statement yesterday that he plans to release running back DeMarco Murray. The 30-year-old Murray ran for an AFC-leading 1,287 yards and nine touchdowns to make the Pro Bowl in 2016, his first year with the Titans. But he ran for only 659 yards and six touchdowns last season, suffering a knee injury that caused him to miss Tennessee’s last three games.

UNDATED (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to a three-year, $20.3 million contract extension that includes $10 million guaranteed. The 27-year-old Goodwin set career highs last season with 56 catches for 962 yards and scored two touchdowns. And A person familiar with the situation says Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry has signed his $16 million franchise tag, easing the path to a potential trade.

UNDATED (AP) — Pittsburgh men’s basketball coach Kevin Stallings has been dismissed following the worst season in program history. Stallings was let go two days after the Panthers completed an 8-24 season with a loss in the first round of the ACC tournament. PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) — PGA Canadian rookie Corey Conners opened with a 4-under 67 that puts him one stroke ahead of Nick Watney, Kelly Kraft and Whee Kim after one round of the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook. Watney holed a bunker shot on the par-4 16th, made the turn and had an eagle on the first hole. Tiger Woods is three shots back following his first opening-round under par since 2015.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have picked up some pitching help by working out a minor league contract with Ricky Nolasco, one day after Jesse Hahn was placed on the 60-day disabled list. Nolasco spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, where he went 6-15 with a 4.92 ERA a year ago. The 35-year-old right-hander is 114-118 with a 4.56 ERA across 12 seasons with the Angels, Dodgers, Marlins and Twins.
