Dry weather is in store from the Great Lakes eastward

across the Northeast today. A storm system will bring

periods of rain to Virginia and the Carolinas, while severe

thunderstorms will occur across southern Kentucky,

Tennessee, Alabama and western Georgia. Some of these

storms will be capable of producing torrential downpours,

large hail and damaging winds. Elsewhere, an area of low

pressure will bring occasional snow and flurries to the

Dakotas and northern Nebraska. To the west, an upper-level

disturbance will bring a couple of snow showers to Idaho,

western Montana and western Wyoming while dry weather in

store from Washington and Oregon southward across

California and Arizona.
