A diet book for those who can’t say no to sugar

Maureen Anderson is a nationally syndicated radio host who is addicted to sugar, which led her to write The Willpower Workaround.

She said diet books that suggest one “cheat meal” a week is the wrong approach for most people. For people who find sugar addictive, cheat meals only reinforce cravings.

“It’s easier to do without (sugar) all together than to try to have this negotiation between how many workouts or spinach salads earn me the right to a donut or cookie,” Anderson explains. “It’s really so much easier for people like me, who find themselves powerless over donuts, to just say ‘No’ just the way alcoholics say no to alcohol.

“You wouldn’t suggest they go to the bar on Friday nights and have a good time. No. They stop forever.”

She said reaction to her book has been positive.

“One of my favorite responses was from a gal who said she was so tired of diets that rely on points systems or special recipes or support groups you have to go to every week or whatever.

“I don’t mean to bash them, they work wonders for some people, and that’s great. She likes the simplicity of my plan.”

She said The Willpower Workaround is available on Amazon.
