Police investigating alleged homicide in Tremonton

TREMONTON – Police report one man is dead from an apparent gunshot wound and another is in custody, after an argument early Monday morning in Tremonton.

Brandon K. Thompson was booked into the Box Elder County Jail. The 33-year-old man is being held on suspicion of aggravated homicide, a first-degree felony, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, both second-degree felonies.

A press release from the Tremonton Police Department states, officers were dispatched to a home at 3625 West 1000 North after Thompson called 911 around 3:45 a.m. He reportedly told operators a shooting had occurred.

An initial investigation revealed that an argument had occurred between Thompson and victim, which ended with shots being fired. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld, pending notification of family

Police officers are continuing to investigate the crime scene. They are being assisted by the Box Elder County Sheriffs’ Office, Utah State Bureau of Investigations, Utah Highway Patrol and Garland Police Department.
