Service club shares ‘happy bucks’ with CAPSA

Like other service organizations, the Logan Kiwanis Club performs a great deal of charity work and provides community services on a regular basis. In addition to great speakers and lunches, Kiwanis members are involved with what Club President Daryl Arnell refers to as “happy bucks.”

“Part of our meeting is to have someone, who is a club member, go around the room,” explains Arnell. “Anyone who wants to donate into that bucket and share something that they are happy about, whether something happened that week or earlier that day.

“The idea is to share a little bit of happiness. Then we feel like it’s a great way to reach out to organizations and be able to share some of those dollars, through that happiness, to those organizations.”

Arnell says the Happy Bucks donations add up and just recently the Kiwanis Cloub presented Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (also known as CAPSA) with a check for $510 to support their prevention education program.

Arnell says one of the great things about Kiwanis members is the give back to the youth because they realize that the young people are our future.
