Just as the vast majority of students at Utah State University have left for the summer, a new roundabout is being constructed in Logan just below the campus. According to Logan City, it will disrupt traffic for approximately 12 weeks near Adams Elementary School. Construction begins Monday, May 7 on the intersection of 500 North 600 East.
According to Logan City, this roundabout will be very similar to the intersection just four blocks to the west on 500 North 200 East. In addition to adjusting how the flow of traffic will occur at that intersection, Logan City will also be working on the sidewalks to make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, upgrading a storm water system and repairing asphalt in the area.
“This project is expected to be substantially completed before school resumes at USU on August 27, 2018,” an official release states. In the mean time, people who typically may travel through that intersection will need to find different ways of getting around that area.
Detour sidewalks will be maintained throughout the construction project and motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes. Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays.
“If you would like to receive a weekly email update,” the release continues, “that provides information about expected impacts each week during construction, please send an email to LoganRoundabout@gmail.com and write ‘updates’ in the subject line.”
