State competition scheduled for local high school tennis, baseball and softball teams

Postseason play is almost here for the local high school tennis, softball and baseball teams. With games starting this week, here is what you need to know to follow your school:

Baseball

With just two losses in region play, Sky View secured the Region 12 championship and the No. 1 seed at the state competition. Bear River placed second, Ridgeline took third and Mountain Crest, fourth. Green Canyon and Logan each failed to advance to the state tournament.

Softball

With just one loss, Bear River edged the two-loss Ridgeline team in the standings to clinch the Region 12 championship. Mountain Crest and Logan got the third and fourth seeds, respectively. Green Canyon and Sky View didn’t qualify for the state competition.

Tennis

Green Canyon took the Region 12 championship last week and secured at least a second seed in each position for the state tournament. The other new valley school, Ridgeline, also had a good showing at the region tournament taking the No. 1 spot in two positions and sending four of its five positions to the state competition. The state championships will take place Thursday and Saturday at the Liberty Park tennis courts in Salt Lake City.
