LOGAN — A 58-year-old Mendon man has been arrested and charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman. Kay K. Moosman was booked Friday into the Cache County Jail, and is being held without bail.
Moosman made his initial appearance in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He appeared by video from jail, the same day state attorneys charged him with rape, sodomy and object rape, all first-degree felonies, along with voyeurism and violating a protective order, both misdemeanors.
Cache County Sheriff Lt. Brian Locke said deputies began investigating Moosman after the alleged victim reported the assaults. Specific details could not be released because the investigation is ongoing. The suspect apparently was acquainted with the victim, who had previously filed a protective order against him.
During Monday’s arraignment, Judge Brian Cannell read the charges against Moosman, explaining that they carry a maximum penalty of five-years-to-life in prison. He said due to the severity of the allegations and the safety to the public, the suspect will remain in jail for now, held without bail.
Moosman was ordered to appear again in court June 25.
