Scott Sandall narrowly advances in Senate District 17 race

State Representative Scott Sandall has narrowly defeated former Brigham City Mayor Clark Davis in the Republican primary for State Senate District 17. Sandall and Davis were running to replace retiring Republican State Senator Peter Knudson. The district covers all of Box Elder County, all of Tooele County and the southern portion of Cache County, from Nibley south.

Sandall received 6660 votes while Davis received 5950 votes. In Cache County, only 71 votes separated the two candidates. Sandall received more votes in Cache and Box Elder counties while Davis received more in Tooele County.

Sandall, a resident of Tremonton, will now face Democrat Michael A. Keil, a resident of Tooele, in the November general election.
