It’s the Weekend – July 26-29, 2018

This weekend has a little bit of everything going on: a volleyball tournament for youth and adults, theater, a football clinic for ladies, family picnics and more.

Preston Night Rodeo

Over 83 years of tradition continue this weekend with That Famous Preston Night Rodeo. Parades Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, City of Fun Carnival, sidewalk sale by downtown businesses, and of course three nights of the biggest rodeo in Cache Valley all taking place in Preston this weekend.

Utah State Football

The USU football season is only a month away. So ladies, if you want to understand the sport a little better, and have fun putting on the gear and running through some fun drills, attend the Utah State Football Ladies Clinic. Registration begins at 5 p.m. Thursday at Maverik Stadium.

Aggie fans may also want to attend the Salt Lake Bees game on Friday night. It’s Aggie Night and you get a chance to meet head coach Matt Wells. Plus, they’re even going to have fireworks after the game.

Theater

There are only a few weeks left to see the great productions from Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre and Lyric Repertory Company. All of their productions continue this weekend in repertory.

Or if you’d like to see the future of theater, you can see the youth production of Willy Wonka. Produced by the Cache Theatre Company, Willy Wonka will be performed Friday at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. at Bridger Elementary School.

Tunnel Tales

Gather under the Central Park Tunnels for Tunnel Tales, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. Tunnel Tales features stories that are entertaining and fun for the whole family. Seating will be provided.

Volleyball Tournament

Youth and adults can compete in the Volleyball Tournament at Willow Park on Saturday. Co-sponsored by Mountain Peak Volleyball and Logan City, the tournament features multiple youth age divisions as well as adults. Games will be played on grass and on sand. The tournament begins at 9 a.m.

Barbecue/Picnic

Utah streamers, content creators and viewers on Twitch are invited to gather for a summer barbecue and picnic Saturday. Meet-up with the people you see or follow on Twitch in real life from 4-9 p.m. at Willow Horseshoe Park.

The Cache Valley Library Association is also hosting a summer family social this Saturday. That will be held at Lundstrom Park from 4-8 p.m. There will be lots of lawn games and yummy treats.

Blues, Brews and Barbecue is a night of outdoor music, art and food at The Vineyards, Sunday at 6 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Utah Public Radio and attendees are invited to bring their own beverages and chairs.

Youth Concert

Wellsville City Youth Council has organized a concert for youth from around the valley. Rythmic Dictator, a local music group, will be performing at 8 p.m. in the Wellsville Pavilion. The concert is free for anyone to attend.
