It’s the Weekend – August 2-5, 2018

The Bear Lake area celebrates Raspberry Days this weekend, there’s a ukulele festival and it’s the final days to see theater and musical productions in Cache Valley. And we’ve got all the details.

Community Events

Raspberry Days in Garden City is a great summer tradition, and it gets underway this weekend. Festivities are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and some of the highlights include the parade on Thursday, rodeo in Laketown, lighted boat parade Saturday at 9, and fireworks at about 10 p.m. Saturday night.

This weekend is also Wheat and Beet Days in Garland. The festivities begin Friday at 5 with a Children’s Parade, and continue all day Saturday with a parade at 10, activities throughout the day and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.


This weekend is also the final weekend to see any of the shows produced by the Lyric Repertory Company and Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre. If you haven’t seen any of the amazing shows yet, this is your final chance.

Summer Fling Market

You can bring the whole family to Nibley’s Heritage Park for the Summer Fling Market. It begins Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Ride for the Fallen

The Michael J. Allred “Ride for the Fallen” is Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m. The motorcycle ride around Cache and Box Elder counties is a fundraising event to create a Veterans Resource Center in Cache Valley.

In conjunction with that ride will be street painting for Cache Valley Veterans. The chalk art displays will be worked on from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Elk Ridge Park in North Logan. It’s a great way to express your appreciation for our local veterans.

Ukulele Festival

Hear the music and enjoy the beautiful culture of the Polynesian Islands at the 6th annual Ukulele Festival this Saturday in Willow Park. There will be musical performances, fun workshops, and even an open mic competition with prizes. It’s Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Trail Run

The next installment of Urban Trail Running is this Saturday. Beginning at First Dam, there is a 3 mile and a 9 mile option on the Highline Trail, Canyon Gateway Trail and River Trail. There will be support stations along the way in the mouth of beautiful Logan Canyon.

Belva’s Big Band Birthday Bash

Celebrate the brilliant life of Belva Hansen in style. The former educator and philanthropist turns 90 years old and The Family Place in Logan is hosting a big birthday bash. Everyone is invited, and it will feature free face painting, cake, live music, bounce houses and a lot more. The party is from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Saturday.


The final concert of the season for the USU Alumni Band is Sunday at 7 p.m. The free concert is at the Daines Concert Hall and features anywhere between 45-60 Aggie musicians.
