For the past three years local legislators have been holding town hall meetings with constituents each month in order to keep them informed on what the elected officials are involved with and discussing a particular issue which may be of interest.
State Senator Lyle Hillyard, R-Logan, says a Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday, August 16th starting at 7 p.m. in the Historic Cache County Courthouse. He says this time the topic up for discussion will be water.
“There are a lot of things going on in addition to expanding and people down south trying to get water down there,” Hillyard says. “There is talk about raising the level of Bear Lake, there’s talk about different uses. This year has been extremely hard because we’ve had so little rain.
“So what does that all mean? I think we’ve got a state engineer coming up talking about overall water production, we have the Cache Water Conservancy District director speaking on that.”
Hillyard says there will be two Town Hall meetings during the month of September. Those discussions will deal with the death penalty and medical marijuana.
