It’s the Weekend – Sept. 13-16, 2018

From Aggie football to the Top of Utah Marathon and a lot in between, it’s a busy weekend in Cache Valley.

9/11 Commemoration

Commemorate the tragedy of 9/11 while also working to bring our community closer together. This Friday, Cache Community Connections hosts a special interfaith event titled All Members of the Same Family. It’s Friday night at 7 in the Logan Tabernacle.

USU Athletic Events

We’ve got several USU athletic events going on this weekend, like USU football hosting Tennessee Tech on Thursday night, USU soccer hosting Eastern Washington Friday afternoon and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, USU volleyball taking on in-state rival Weber State Friday night, and a special event Friday evening: six former student-athletes get inducted into the Utah State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Runs / Walks

Best of luck to all the runners in this Saturday’s Altra Top of Utah Marathon. Be mindful of runners as they make their way down Blacksmith Fork Canyon, through Nibley, Millville, Providence, River Heights and ending in Merlin Olsen Central Park.

If you don’t want to run 26.2 miles, how about 1 mile…dressed up like a vampire? The Utah Hemophilia Foundation Vamp Run is Saturday in Elk Ridge Park starting at 8 a.m.

There are two other walks taking place Saturday. The Cache County Buddy Walk is a fundraiser for the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation and that will take place at the American West Heritage Center at 10 a.m.

The other is the 3rd annual Walk With Someone 5K run and walk. It takes place in Reese Pioneer Park in Brigham City starting at 4:30 and features a Brenn Hill concert.

Girls in Aviation

Girls 8-18 are invited to Girls in Aviation Day at the Logan-Cache Airport to explore the world of aviation and aerospace industries from 8:30 to noon on Saturday. There will be a lot of hands-on activities, including flying a flight simulator.

Live Music

Grab the kids, and especially the dog, and jam out with the Cache Humane Society. The Cache Humane Society Pet Jam is Saturday at 4 at the Valley View Dog Park. It’s free, there will be live music, but they are looking for donations of bleach, paper towels, canned kitten and cat food.

The Umbrella Brothers perform this Saturday at 2nd Dam with the Canyon Jams concert series. The concert begins at 6 p.m.

Community PIGnic

The Cache County Republican Party is hosting its first annual Community PIGnic. Special guests include Mitt Romney, Rob Bishop and other candidates running for office. It’s a free event for Republicans starting at 5 p.m. in Willow Park.

Teens and Screens: Who is in Control?

Lear the effects that technology can have on teenagers and what you can do about it. Teens and Screens: Who is in Control is 6:30 p.m. on Friday at The Family Place.

Trash Car Race

The last Trash Car Race of the season is this Saturday. It’s held at the Cache County Rodeo Grounds and starts at 7 p.m.
