A total of $5 million in sales tax received approval Tuesday from the Cache County Council following the recommendation of the Cache County Council of Governments. Richmond Mayor Jeff Young, who is vice chairman of the council, said it helps to have a designated amount of money because the smaller cities and towns do not have a staff to assist in the planning process.

Half of the sales tax money this year will go toward improving the intersection at 600 West 1400 North. The funding also allows for a project master plan in the amount of $70,000.
