Roark wants to tackle abuse and homelessness in Cache Valley

Jennifer Roark decided to run for Cache County Council when another person dropped out and now Roark says she is excited about running for council in Logan’s District #3.

She is employed as assistant professor of social work at Utah State University and says she is excited about that job. Roark is especially interested in domestic violence and addiction problems, and she is a licensed addiction counselor.

“One of the things I think is important is figuring out a way to aggressively tackle gender-based violence in the valley,” she says. “And we can do that in several ways. One of the ways we do that is coming together as a community and bring in all the people together in what they call a family justice model.

“The second thing I’m really interested in is, I think as a county we need to address the homelessness problem. We, right now, have to send money to Ogden because we aren’t addressing the homelessness problem. That is something I think we can tackle as a community.”

Roark is a Democrat and she faces Republican Paul Borup in the election.
