LOGAN — A two-alarm fire early Thursday morning caused extensive damage to several homes. The blaze was reported at 5:11 a.m. at 215 Bridger Drive, west of Kubex Fitness.
Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said when the first crews arrived on the scene, they found the garage of the home fully engulfed in flames. The fire was also spreading into the attached home.
“We were able to put water on the fire from the exterior first, got the fire knocked down, then sent crews into the interior to check for extension through the rest of the building,” explained Humphreys.
“There were two occupants and three pets that lived here. All of those were able to get out safely and so we have no injuries to fire fighters or the occupants of the building. The pets were all okay.”
Fire fighters used a ladder truck and sprayed water on the flames from above. Crews were then able to enter the home and extinguish the remaining hot spots inside the attic.
Humphreys said the garage collapsed due to the fires damage, and was a complete loss. The home sustained damage to the roof and attic, and smoke damage through the inside. There was also heat damage to neighboring homes.
“This is a pretty high density area, so we had a lot of the siding that melted on adjacent structures, but there was no actual fire spread into those adjacent structures.”
Initial reports indicate the fire started in the garage. It is unknown what exactly ignited it.
