This week’s International Education Week events at Utah State University are part of a global education celebration at universities all over America.
Wednesday night the Caine College of the Arts is presenting a concert by the “Filipino Tenor” Rodell Rosel who has been a guest of many major U.S. opera companies including the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Metropolitan Opera.
A native of Manila, he said he will present a variety of musical styles.
“It’s a very eclectic program,” Rosel explained. “I get to sing art songs, I get to sing arias, I get to sing fun songs. So, for me, I don’t want to stay in one realm where at some point people will, sometimes you can’t avoid people dozing off.
“I will get you to the point where you are moved. But, by the time you are almost getting a little tired, I change the vibe. And then you are in a totally different world again. I can promise everyone that comes there that they will really enjoy it, 100 percent.”
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall. It is free, but tickets are required and are available at the Caine College Box Office, 797-8022.
