Logan man admits to downloading numerous child porn images

LOGAN — A 50-year-old Logan man has confessed to downloading numerous images of child pornography. Tony M. Teeples accepted a plea deal and will now await to be sentenced.

Teeples appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning. He pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dropped 10 additional charges against him. Each charge represented one image or video.

Cache County deputy attorney Jacob Gordon said Federal ICE agents received information that Teeples was downloading child pornography in January 2018. They served a warrant to his home where they found numerous images on several devices that were owned by the defendant.

While being questioned by investigators, Teeples admitted to accessing the images online. Much of the material discovered during the course of the investigation related to infants and toddlers being abused.

Teeples spoke only briefly during Tuesday’s court appearance. He said that he understood the rights to a fair trial, he was giving up by pleading guilty.

Judge Brian Cannell scheduled Teeples to be sentenced March 19. He also ordered the defendant to complete a pre-sentence investigative report with probation agents, about his criminal history.

Court records show in 1989, Teeples was convicted of sexually abusing a minor. He could face up 15-years in prison.
