LOGAN — Police have arrested a 27-year-old Logan man who has been on the run and suspected in a string of crimes.  Albert Hernandez was booked Wednesday night into the Cache County Jail.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said officers had been looking for Hernandez during the last couple weeks.  The suspect, who has also previously lived in Hyrum, has been linked to more than a dozen vehicle and business burglaries and three stolen automobiles.

“We’ve actually tried to pull him over twice and he has led the police on a short chase,” explained Budge.  “He just drives so recklessly, he immediately goes into oncoming traffic, so we just have to stop.  He doesn’t really care about putting other people’s lives in jeopardy.  So we felt he was quite dangerous.”

Police report that Hernandez has a long criminal history dating back to when he was a juvenile.

Budge said a task force of multiple law enforcement agencies began trying to track Hernandez down during the past week.  Officers and deputies had been talking with people that knew the suspect and might know his whereabouts.

“The Cache County Sheriff’s Office was able to get some information to help us find a couple locations that we could watch for him.  Officers were able to observe him going to a residence in Logan.  After a short foot pursuit, he was captured.”

Hernandez was booked into jail on multiple offences, including felony thefts, burglary and multiple misdemeanors.  He is expected to be arraigned on formal charges in 1st District Court within the next couple days.
