LOGAN — Police officers are investigating the death of a 62-year-old Logan man who was physically beaten by a 17-year-old boy after being falsely accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. Michael Fife died April 27 at an Ogden hospital, where he was being treated for his injuries following the attack.

According to a press release from the Logan City Police Department, the 16-year-old girl claimed she was sexually assaulted by Fife while riding a CVTD bus, Tuesday afternoon, April 23. The female immediately called her 17-year-old brother and told him the allegations.

Officers report, minutes later the brother located Fife getting off the bus near 300 South 100 West. The teen ran towards the man and pushed him.

Fife allegedly fell to the sidewalk and suffered injuries to his head. He was left unconscious, lying on the sidewalk, while the assailant fled the scene on foot. Witnesses called police and paramedics to the scene. Fife was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital and later transferred to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Officers claim that several hours later, the 16-year-old girl called police to report the sexual assault on the bus.

Detectives later reviewed video footage from the bus. It showed Fife walking past the girl but never assaulting her.

Police are not releasing the names of the two juveniles because of their age. They are continuing to investigate and will turn the case over to the Cache County Attorney’s Office, to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

Fife leaves behind one son. A friend has opened a GoFundMe account, to raise money to settle the cost of hospital bills, cremation, and entering into a burial plot.

“Logan man who was physically beaten by a 17-year-old boy” …………….”The teen ran towards the man and pushed him.”……

So the boy didn’t “physically beat” him. He shoved him. As I read that first paragraph it sounded like the boy beat the man to death. Let’s make sure a story this tragic isn’t exaggerated by the journalist.

It’s not being exaggerated. That brother is 100% responsible for the death of the 62 year old man. He belongs in prison.

Are you joking? Exaggerated? The man died, even so if he just “pushed him” and killed him it is still considered man slaughter and he should be charged for it. You don’t think he was kicked while on the ground either? It’s an elderly man being beat by a teenager. If anything the journalist under exaggerated it. Your clearly a feminist

He was knocked down hard. Go read a different source where the chief of police speaks out. He described the hit as “linebacker-type charge.” A push wouldn’t have done that type of injury, Megan.

I hope the girl gets charged with slander and the brother with manslaughter.

You can blame the overcharged progressive identitarian bullies for this. Severe punishments are warranted.

The person who said that This should not b exaggerated is sick. The man is innocent. Wat if this was ur dad? Would u feel the same? They should charge both the girl and her brother for murder
