Paul Mark Lindley

October 28, 1936 – May 3, 2019

Dad was born on a crisp autumn day on October 28,1936 in Wellsville, Utah to Mark and Beatrice Lindley.

Dad grew up in the small farming community, growing and harvesting sugar beets and milking cows alongside his family and friends.

Dad was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints his entire life. In his youth he served a mission in Australia.

On his journey home from Australia he met his beloved and adored spouse of 59 years, Edell Higley, in Hawaii.

Dad and mom married in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Logan, Utah Temple on March 18, 1960.

Dad and mom started out their life together in Cache Valley. They welcomed their first two children, a son Rex and their daughter LaNice. Dad worked on the family farm and earned his degree in engineering from Utah State University.

After graduation, they sat out on an adventure to last a lifetime. Dad worked in and eventually became part owner in his own logistics firm. He loved his work and the many people he worked with.

Dad loved people and nothing gave him more joy than being in service to others. He loved to share a treat, lend a hand, or help anyone in need.

Mom and dad grew their family and added three more daughters. Dad loved to care for and provide for his family. “We work hard, we play hard” was his rule. His family camped and fished and played all over the beautiful state of Utah.

Any Saturday afternoon you could find my dad reading a Louis L’Amour novel, he truly loved to read and was an avid reader his whole life He loved to have friends drop in to visit and share a Pepsi on the porch. These were moments that brought my father happiness.

In 1990 work took Dad out of Utah to Fort Worth, Texas. In May of 1993, dad and mom moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he worked as President of Kenco Group.

Mom and Dad spent more than 25 years in Tennessee where they have been blessed many times over with wonderful friendships and a ward that has become family. They were called to serve a mission in Dayton, Tennessee. Their mission brought them so much joy.

At this time we would like to thank the Hixson Ward for their love and tenderness through this difficult time.

Dad passed away on May 3rd at his home in Tennessee, surrounded by his wife and family. We feel at peace knowing he was welcomed home by his son Rex and many other family and friends.

Dad is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Edell – his daughters LaNice (Dennis), Diane (Scott), Christine (Richard), Janette and his daughter-in-law Tauna Lindley. He was also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, some related by blood all related by love. He was preceded in death by his cherished son Rex.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 9:30-10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 49 West 200 South, Wellsville, Utah. A graveside service will follow at the Wellsville Cemetery at 11:00am (400 North 200 East)
