Police investigating disappearance of young Logan girl

Missing 5-year-old white female who was last seen at 2 a.m. Saturday on the west side of Logan with 21-year-old Alex Whipple.

LOGAN — Police are questioning a suspect as they continue to investigate the disappearance of a 5-year-old Logan girl. Elizabeth Shelley was last seen early Saturday morning with her uncle, 21-year-old Alex Whipple.

Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said Shelley, who lives near 100 South 400 West, was last seen at 2 a.m. and discovered missing around 10 a.m. by her family. She is described as being 3’6″, approximately 40 lbs., with shoulder length curly brown hair with choppy bangs, and brown eyes. It is unknown what type of shirt she had on, but is believed at this point she is wearing either blue jeans or a teal colored plaid skirt.

The girl was last seen with Whipple, who was allegedly visiting the family overnight. He was discovered missing at the same time Shelley could not be found. He allegedly had no vehicle or cell phone and Shelley’s family could not contact him.

Multiple agencies including the Cache County Sheriff’s Office went door to door, searching neighboring homes and yards for any clues regarding the girl’s disappearance. They were assisted by several K-9 units and Cache County Search and Rescue teams.

Police had also broadcast public service announcements on local radio stations and social media, asking for the public’s help looking for the two individuals.

Around 3:00 p.m. officers found Whipple, however Shelley was not with him. He reportedly had some of her clothing in his possession and was taken into custody for questioning.

Hooley said Whipple is talking to investigators. He has not given specific information though, regarding where the girl may be.

Officers are considering the situation “highly suspicious.” They are transitioning their search from a rescue to a recovery effort, and feel like they no longer need the public’s help.

Salt Lake County court records show Whipple had a warrant issued for his arrest last month, for violating his probation. In January 2018, he was convicted of felony theft, failing to stop at the command of law enforcement and driving under the influence.

That picture of the pedo monster who murdered this poor little girl isn’t accurate. He’s a tweaked out meth head now with a goatee. If anybody sees him just do the world a favor and end it. No need to waste all that time and money with a trial.

This breaks my heart….and goes to show that you never know who someone really is ever….one day they are sweet and innocent and good students…just all around good kid and then bammmm they turn into murderers and rapists and enjoy torturing people. Even their own family members. So sad and pray that justice is served if it is found out that he did something. I pray for a good outcome for this lil one but unfortunately the outcomes we have seen lately really has me worried. I still hold out hope that atleast her family will get answers and some closure. Prayers to all involved and a big shout out to the many men woman officers and search teams for dedicating their time and efforts to find the answers needed for this family and community to start healing.
