Cache GOP invites public to Flag Day celebration

Flag Day is celebrated each year on June 14 to commemorate the day on which the country adopted its famous stars and stripes.

President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation in 1916 to mark the date in 1777 when the Second Continental Congress selected the American flag.

Many people in the United States and Cache Valley will honor the day by displaying the flag at homes and public buildings.

The Cache County Republican Party is sponsoring a Flag Day program at the historic Cache County Courthouse on the east lawn Friday evening, June 14 from 7-8 p.m.

“Bring a lawn chair, bring a blanket, bring your family,” said Cache GOP Chairman Chris Booth. “Come celebrate the flag with us and let’s honor and celebrate the stars and stripes this Friday on Flag Day.”

The night of patriotism will include speakers and musical numbers.

“This is something we want to do for our community and we think it’s important to honor and celebrate the flag,” said Booth, “especially those who paid the price for us to protect that flag and protect our freedoms.”

The event is free to the public.
