A man died early Friday morning after he allegedly stepped in front of a semi-truck along Interstate-15, near Willard. The auto/pedestrian crash blocked northbound traffic along the interstate for more than three hours.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers report Box Elder Dispatch operators received phone calls about the crash at 5:15 a.m. The man allegedly had walked into the right hand lane and was struck by a semi and killed.

Troopers located a black Hyundai car with California plates that was parked in the right hand emergency lane near where the man walked into traffic. The man’s identification was found inside the vehicle. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Initial reports indicate that the man may have purposely stepped in front of the truck to take his life. A full investigation is pending.

Northbound traffic along the interstate was diverted onto US-89 while crews cleared the crash and investigated.
