Idaho woman dies in south Preston car crash

A 72-year-old Chubbuck, Idaho woman died after the car she was driving rolled, south of Preston. The crash occurred at 5:42 p.m. Monday, along US-91 near milepost 3.

Idaho State Police report Edna M. Sedgwick was travelling northbound in a Nissan Sentra when she drove off the right shoulder and into a ditch.

The car rolled and came to a rest on its side. No other vehicles were involved.

Sedgwick sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was reported dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Police are unsure if the accident was caused by a medical condition, distraction or drowsy driving.

Northbound traffic along US-91 was partially blocked while the crash was investigated and cleared. Police were assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Preston Police Department, and Franklin County Fire Department.
