BENSON – Road crews have temporarily closed the Benson Bridge for two days. The closure is along 3800 North on Monday and Tuesday while the bridge is inspected.
Roy Hathaway, ground crew lead with the Cache County Road Department, explained that the closure will last between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day, but will be open during the evening and overnight hours.
The closure is to allow engineers to inspect the structural integrity of the road base and determine the extent of needed repairs.
Crews will be detouring all traffic along Airport Road, 3400 North, onto 3000 West and around the west side of Benson Marina. Traffic that is travelling south along 3200 West will be detoured onto 3800 North, and also around the west side of the marina.
Motorists should allow an extra five-minutes in their commute, to accommodate the detour.
Cache County Sheriff’s deputies are monitoring the closure and could pull over any motorists who fail to comply with the detour.
Hathaway said the closure is expected to last just two days and could reopen early Tuesday.
