GARDEN CITY – For folks heading to Bear Lake for the Fourth of July, there are some fireworks restrictions in place.
Garden City Fire Chief Mike Wahlberg issued a directive concerning fireworks in Garden City and the surrounding areas.
He reminded visitors coming to the Bear Lake area that the state has changed the days fireworks are allowed. Those days are two days before and one day after July 4 and 24.
Utah-purchased, legal fireworks are permitted within the following Garden City Fire District areas:
*Starting at U.S. Highway 89 and the Utah/ Idaho state line, south along U.S. highway 89 to the 300 West (Paradise Parkway) U.S. 89 intersection.
*South along 300 West to Buttercup Lane.
*East along Buttercup lane to Highway 30.
*South along Highway 30 to Kimball Lane.
*Continuing east along Highway 30 to Sweetwater Park Dr.
*North from Sweetwater Park Dr. to the high water line on Bear Lake.
*Northerly along the high water mark on Bear Lake to the Utah/Idaho state line.
The Fire Chief provided two additional places where fireworks can be used. The Garden City Park, located at approximately 500 South Bear Lake Blvd, and the east half of the Garden City public parking lot located on the north side of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel.
