Logan residents will choose from among seven candidates for three open city council seats

Ahead of this fall’s Municipal Primary Election for three open seats on the Logan City Council, Cache Valley Daily will profile each of the seven candidates in an effort to give residents an opportunity to get to know those interested in being elected to public office.

Nine people originally filed to enter the race; however, David James and Lynsey Rose Kinchla recently pulled out of the running citing personal reasons.

The Primary Election, held August 13, will narrow the field down to six candidates. The General Election is November 5.

Below is a list of the candidates and dates they will be profiled:

Ken Heare – July 9

Jeannie F. Simmonds – July 10

Gary Poore – July 11

Mark Anderson – July 12

Keegan Garrity – July 15

Abraham Verdoes – July 16

Tom Jensen – July 17

Residents in Logan will be voting in the Primary Election by mail. Ballots for the Primary Election will be mailed out on July 23.

Would you please mention which three of the current City Council members are stepping down?

I am assuming the list is of both democrat and republican, why on their lawn signs they never say which party they belong to?

I don’t know all the candidates. But I can say that Keegan Garrity is one of the best guys I know. Thoughtful and generous.
