Norman Leroy Howell, 91 passed away July 5, 2019, in Logan,Utah.
He was born on March 29, 1928 to the proud parents of J. Herold and Martha Felix Howell of Malad, Idaho. Norman attended the Woodruff Elementary School 1st – 8th grade. He graduated from Malad High School in Malad Idaho. He graduated from Utah State Agriculture College now know as Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
He served a mission to the Northern States Mission.
He married his beautiful blue eyed Helen Ernstrom on November 20, 1951 in the Logan Utah Temple.
Norman taught Vocational Agriculture at Butte High School in Arco, Idaho. He was the supervisor of life stock at Stake Hospital South Blackfoot, Idaho. He farmed and ranched in Woodruff, Idaho for 60 years. He was owner of Howell Herefords. While he was ranching he was honored as the Oneida County Grass Man of year 1972/1973. President of the Samaria Lake Irrigation Company for several years.
Norman was the owner operator of several businesses, A-1 Drive Inn Brigham City, Utah, Howell Metal & Erection, Howell Service, Howell New Zealand Fence Co.
He loved to serve in the Church, he served as a counselor in the Bishopric Stake Sunday School Board, Stake Missionary, served in the Young Men for years, teacher in Sunday School, served as a Temple Worker in the Logan Temple.
He was preceded in death his parents, J Herold Howell, Martha Howell, Larry Howell brother, Brent James Howell and Todd Carl Howell (Monica) sons. He is survived by his wife Helen, son Norman Reed, sister Maurine Reintjes, bothers Glade (Barbara), Bryon (Irene), Ruby Howell, sister-in-law, 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00am in the Malad LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 20 South 100 West in Malad, Idaho. Friends may visit with the family at the Horsley Funeral Home Friday evening from 7:00 -8:00pm and at the church Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30am prior to the funeral.
Burial will follow in the Portage, Utah Cemetery.
