LOGAN — A 20-year-old Hyrum man, who already is facing multiple drug charges, has been arraigned on new charges that he allegedly had sex with a teenage girl. Jaren K. Liljenquist was arrested July 9 and booked into the Cache County Jail.

Liljenquist was arraigned on the new case in 1st District Court Monday morning. He was charged with four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second-degree felony. He was already facing 6 other felonies or misdemeanors for various drug offenses.

Prosecutors claim that Liljenquist engaged in sexual activity with the alleged victim multiple times. The crimes occurred between April and June.

Liljenquist had been allowed into Drug Court, a weekly rehab program that is overseen by a judge, that allows them to avoid a jail sentence. On June 27, he failed to appear in court and had a warrant issued for his arrest.

During Monday’s arraignment, Judge Thomas Willmore ordered Liljenquist to be held in jail without bail. He scheduled the defendant to appear again in court next week.
