Cache Valley Hospital introduces 3D mammography to the valley

NORTH LOGAN – Cache Valley Hospital now offers 3D Mammography exams and mammography tech Jill Rosier explains what the new system can do.

It’s finding invasive cancers earlier and reducing unnecessary recalls for patients to have to come back for additional views after their mammogram,” Rosier says.

In conventional 2D mammography, overlapping tissue is a leading reason why small breast cancers may be missed.

“Instead of all of the breast tissue being super-imposed on each other, the radiologist reading that image can now look at it layer-by-layer.”

Rosier said in addition to bringing the industry standard of mammography to the valley, Cache Valley Hospital is the only location in the valley with an upright 3D biopsy system option.

“Instead of laying facedown to receive a breast biopsy, patients now have a more comfortable option of sitting upright during that procedure,” says Rosier.
