Roy Steven Byington

January 8, 1947 – September 1, 2019 – (age 72)

Roy attended schools in Logan and Layton, Utah and graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah in 1965. He started working for Kaysville City before he even graduated from high school. He worked various positions throughout the city including truck driver, backhoe operator, snow plow driver, and was later the foreman for the water and sewer department. He worked for them for 20 years. He then made the move to work for Davis County where he worked on the road crew. Repairing roads and driving snow plow. During his working career he also worked for Ben Davis Trucking, Air Products, Gossner Foods and retired from Trenton Feed in 2002.

Roy met Trudy Ann Jenson in 1967 when she was just 14 years old. They dated for 3 years while she finished high school. He would have married her sooner if her father would have allowed but they married two weeks following graduation on June 12,1970. Their marriage was later solemized in the Logan LDS temple on September 21, 1991. They welcomed four children into their family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holding many callings in the church, like primary teacher, scouts, and librarian of the media center.

The light of Roy’s life was his family. You could always find him with a big smile on his face, in the backyard hosting a BBQ with his children and grandchildren. He loved to be outdoors and loved camping and four-wheeling. He was the only one to give the children their first ice cream, smarties, and M&M’s. One of kids were still in the hospital from being born. He loved to work in his yard, mowing grass, and tinkering with small projects. He was mister “fix-it” and could tear things apart and put them back together in no time.
