Former Hyde Park man dies in traffic accident

LOGAN — A 24-year-old former Hyde Park man died Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident. Branton Burgess was killed, after the car he was driving rolled, south of Inkom, Idaho.

Idaho State Police report Burgess was travelling northbound on Interstate-15 in a 2012 Chevy Cobalt. Near milepost 54, the vehicle drifted off the left-side of the roadway, over-corrected, and went off the right shoulder and rolled.

Burgess was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to social media, Burgess had a passion for the performing arts. He had worked for several theater companies.

On their Facebook page, Four Seasons Theatre Company said they were deeply saddened by the news of Burgess’ passing, who was a regular performer with the group. They said his loss will be felt deeply, noting that his passion for dance was infectious.

Police report the crash is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved.

Funeral services for Burgess are being arranged.
