LOGAN – Wednesday, Dec. 18 marks the beginning of the early signing period for college football. The emphasis for Gary Andersen’s 2020 recruiting class has clearly been on the defensive side of the ball so far. Of the seven official commitments to Utah State University, three are defensive lineman and two players are in the defensive secondary. A running back and a punter are also included.
Five of the seven players are high school athletes from Oregon, California, Texas, Nevada and one from Australia. Two others are junior college transfers from Riverside Community College and Fullerton Community College.
According to USU, five will enroll for the 2020 spring semester, while one will serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before beginning his collegiate career.
“It was a good day,” said Andersen in a statement, “everybody that we expected to sign signed. We are excited about everyone that’s going to be joining our program whether it be in January or next fall. This class has always been about quality not quantity, and we will continue to work to finish this class through the February signing day.”
Utah State will announce its complete 2020 signing class on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Below are the athletes who are committing to play for the Utah State Aggies.
