SWAT teams called to diffuse threat in Millville

MILLVILLE — Cache County sheriff’s deputies and SWAT teams were called to a Millville home Thursday morning after a man threatened to harm a woman and himself. The incident alarmed nearby residents who were told to stay in their homes.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi said law enforcement was called to the scene on report of a Logan man who was threatening to harm his ex-wife. The suspect, who was outside the home inside a vehicle, allegedly made threats of also harming himself or wishing to die by law enforcement.

SWAT teams located the suspect’s vehicle and set up a perimeter. They also restricted traffic near the home.

Negotiators were able make contact with the alleged suspect and victim, who was not at the residence. They were able to determine that she wasn’t in any harm.

Bartschi said SWAT teams were called off once they determined that there wasn’t any immediate danger to the victim or the neighborhood. Several deputies were assigned to continue patrolling the area to monitor the scene.

The identities of both parties were not disclosed. No arrests were made.
