Midway through Region 11 play, Sky View stands on top with others moving up

LOGAN – At the midway point of Region 11 basketball, the Sky View Bobcats still stand on top of the latest RPI standings issued by the Utah High School Activities Association. Sky View (14-2) celebrated two wins this past week over new and traditional rivals: defeating Green Canyon 75-63 on Wednesday and Mountain Crest 66-33 on Friday. The Mountain Crest Mustangs (1-14) remain at the very bottom of the standings while all other Region 11 boys basketball teams saw some slight movement this week.

Last week, Ridgeline (11-6) was the 6th team in the standings, but with dominating victories over Mountain Crest (68-44) and Logan (69-40) the Riverhawks have moved up to 5th in the standings.

The Bear River Bears (11-6) split their games last week with a win over Logan (69-63) and a last second loss to Green Canyon (63-62). As a result, the Bears slip from 8th to 10th. If Bear River were to remain in the top 10, they would receive a first-round bye in the state basketball playoffs.

Like Bear River, Green Canyon (9-8) split their games last week with their loss to Sky View and victory over Bear River. Despite the loss, the Wolves were able to move up from 13th to 11th.

It was a rough week for the Logan Grizzlies (6-11) with their two losses to Bear River and Ridgeline, but they were still able to move up in the standings. Logan is now ranked 14th overall.

Every team in Region 11 as played each other once, now the season shifts to alternate locations from the first part of the region season with no games being played on Wednesday.

Sky View beats Mountain Crest. Large picture of Mtn Crest student body only shown. Sky View on top of Region by 4 games. Large picture of Ridgeline team only shown. Doesn’t the photographer know what the Sky View team looks like? Or at least show a picture of a Sky View player shoots for scoring. The last one I saw was a photo of another team player scoring and a Sky View player trying to guard them. Are we a little Biased? I’d like to see a winning team photo no matter who wins. Spread the camera around a little.
