COVID-19 cases grow to 20 in Cache County, BRHD continues to encourage social distancing

LOGAN – The number of COVID-19 cases in Cache County grew to 20 following a weekend report.

That means there are now 30 cases in the Bear River Health District: 20 in Cache County, 10 in Box Elder County and none in Rich County.

Three of the new Cache County cases were community spread exposures and the other two individuals contracted the disease while traveling. Three fall into the 18-60 age group and the other two are over 60 years.

All five are self-isolating at home.

BRHD officials have repeatedly encouraged residents of the district to practice social distancing and stay at home measures, but calls of concern into district offices indicate county citizens aren’t heeding that advice.

Usually, shelter-in-place orders are issued by counties as the number of cases grow. Right now, there are 256 cases in the Summit County Health District and 30 in the BRHD.

Summit County health leaders earlier placed their county into a shelter-in-place order as their number of coronavirus cases was growing.

A recent Google report shows Cache County’s response to social distancing-related guidelines hasn’t been as aggressive. For instance, in recent weeks attendance at local parks in Utah is up 24 percent. But while those same numbers are down 47 percent in Summit County, they are up 66 percent in Cache County.

The Department of Health’s Sunday mid day report indicates 1,605 COVID-19 cases in Utah, 30,892 have been tested, 124 have been hospitalized with the virus with eight deaths due to COVID-19.

Well this looks like it is going to be a seasonal disease. I am so glad, that our government is following the advice of social scientist and hunches, while refuting the advice of experts. For those of you, who say this is a mild flu. I don’t recall New York City ever needing mass graves before. I wish our President would have just said “I have a hunch alot of you are about to die.” Qanon! It is real.

How come LA, the second largest city in the US, doesn’t need mass graves?

Why don’t you look at each state’s mitigation efforts and the look at population density. It would go along with why we only have 30 or so cases here in the shire.

Now that you have used one of the fallacies of a logical argument. Why don’t you use appeal to ignorance for your second.

I have never known a single person to die of seasonal flu, I can now count a dozen deaths of Covid-19 as the new normal 🙁

The Summit County drop in park visits I suspect is partially due to end of ski season at Park City, where some parts if not all of the slopes are considered parks. Having said that, yeah, there are way too many people wandering around stores and shops of Cache Valley, especially older people… Are you nuts?

Quit with the hysteria already. You “don’t know of a single person who died from the seasonal flu”? 20,000-40,000 people in the US die from the flu every year, 80,000 died in 2017. On average 150,000 people die every day in the world, 2/3 from age related diseases. 8,000 in the US people die every day on average. This virus hardly moves the needle. DEATH HAPPENS!, We are mortal. Yes this virus is bad, but all viruses are bad. It’s not a reason to quit living and stay home. Maybe we can teach people to actually stay home when they are sick instead of going out and giving it to others. If everyone would stay home when they were sick we wouldn’t have to shut down society because the diseases wouldn’t spread.

You are part of the problem! Just stay home when you’re sick, huh? With this virus, you can have it and spread it for 2 weeks before you start to show symptoms. That’s the entire reason for social distancing and shelter-in-place and other distancing measures. People staying home when they’re sick would not have stopped this. That’s why we’re doing what we’re doing. So people like you don’t go around spreading a virus you don’t even know you had. Open a newspaper once in awhile and get your facts straight. And stay at home like everyone else! Be part of the solution!

Trump really?? Far left need to stop blaming him for everything! Go back and look at NY leaders in Feb and 1st of March they were minimizing it completely. Switch from CNN. When Trump is being transparent they go to their fake news reports.
