Idaho offers $1,500 bonus for people return to work

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho governor Brad Little says people can receive a one-time bonus of up to $1,500 to return to work. The Republican governor announced the plan Thursday as an incentive to help get the Idaho economy going again. Part-time workers would receive $750.

The state’s unemployment rate has rocketed to 11.5% with more than 100,000 unemployed. But Idaho is in the third stage of Little’s four-stage plan to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic and there are signs the economy is turning around.

The money for the payments is coming from $100 million of the $1.25 billion Idaho received in federal rescue money.

Why don’t the people who have worked ever get rewarded??

Ya thats great for them and all but what about the essential workers that had to work all through the Civil 19 pandemic? Why do we not get compensation for keeping the country running during this tough time. Without us essential workers the country would be in alot worse shape than it is in now. Where are thanks for are hard work and dedication? It’s not fair that the people sitting home on unemployment many making more than us get the same amount of stimulus and then get more just to go back to work.

This is bogus I had to work a full time job throughout this whole pandemic and didn’t even get a stimulus check now they get another 1500 are you kidding me. What happens to the people who kept the state running while everyone had a 2 month+ vacation. Bullcrap if you ask me.

Yes I agree with the essential workers getting compensated they really do deserve the money too and I didn’t see how you go about getting the money after you get the job??

If people don’t have enough work ethic to take back their job then cut off the unemployment. Some of us have been working full time jobs risking our health through this entire thing and making LESS money than the people staying home collecting unemployment with an extra $600 per week. That is outrageous. And now they will get a bonus to go back to work?!#@!!!

This is just absurd!. What about all us essential workers who have worked throughout this entirety of COVID. Those of us who have not benefited from unemployment including the extra $600 a week. Those of us who put our health on the line due to being in the health field, grocery store workers so on so forth. We are how and why there was some sort or normality to this world during these times and we are the ones who suffered. While we worked our butts off making less than everyone on Unemployment we also had pay cuts, mandatory days off without pay due to HR/payroll requiring it. Were is OUR bonus? were is OUR thank you? let’s just keep handing over OUR tax money to those who have CHOSEN to stay on unemployment more money. Let’s talk about essential workers with elderly at home or kiddos at home that were/are put at risk bc we are Essential workers and potentially bringing home the virus. get out of here with this nonsense. What a joke
