Maria Berta Gallardo Hernandez

August 22, 1944 – April 19, 2022 (age 77)

Our Little Mother, Maria Berta Gallardo Hernandez, finished her mission on this earth on April 19 at 7:39 pm at Mckay Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT.

Maria was born on August 22, 1944 in San Jeronimo de Jacales Durango, Mexico. Her parents are María Hernández and Luciano Gallardo. She had 11 siblings: Rodrigo, Rafaela, Marcelino, Rosaura, Concha, Isabel, Lucia, Aurelio, Pifano, and Valente.

She was an obedient, submissive and very humble girl. She would like to play running through the fields and flowers of her little ranch.

She liked the sunflowers very much, and her best friend was Teodora Gallardo and her other friend Manuelita Contreras who would played together. My little mother and Teodora played rag dolls. Together they sewed the clothes for their dolls by hand.

Another of her childhood memories was that when she went to wash at the stream, she liked to sing out loud, because she knew that no one would hear her. She was embarrassed of someone hearing her. But she knew how to sing very beautifully.

She worked on a cow ranch, in a restaurant, in the fields, cleaning houses, and selling food. She liked to do business. She liked to sell things, always, something extra apart from her work.

She liked to cook, knit, embroider and sing.

She would like to take care of her farm animals. She loved her hens, sheep, goats, and ducks. They were her favorite animals.

She did not attend much church but she was a woman full of faith and a strong believer in Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Hernandez, and her children, Pedro, Sandra, Maria Magdalena Hernandez.

Her survivors are her children: Jose (Gina) Hernandez Gallardo, Armando (Ofelia) Hernandez Gallardo, Francisco (Mireya) Hernandez Gallardo, Gabriela (Clint) Skinner Gallardo, Oscar Hernandez Gallardo, Oliva (Luis) Beltran Gallardo, and Jessica (Tony) Covarrubias Hernandez Gallardo, 18 grandchildren: Joe Hernandez, Jonathan Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Joshua Hernandez, Armando Junior Hernandez, Evelynn Hernandez, Abiel Hernandez, Neizer Hernandez, Jerik Hernandez, Mathew Hernandez, Destiny Hernandez, Ángel Beltrán, Kimberly Beltran, Crystal Beltran, Jesse Hernandez, Jelah Hernandez, Jazmin Hernandez, Joy Hernandez, and 4 great-grandchildren Rachel Hernandez, Luna Hernandez, Darlene Avila, and Lynette Reyes.

We will be having a memorial service for her on Monday April 25th from 11:30 to 12:30 at Cache Valley Mortuary (80 W 4200 N Hyde Park, UT 84318). Funeral for her will begin at 1. We will bury in Smithfield Cemetery immediately after services.
