LOGAN — There are a lot of Republican candidates who will be on the ballot going out to voters the first week of June.  That includes a primary playing out in the northern part of Cache County when it comes to house representation.

On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday, candidate and incumbent, Representative Mike Petersen was asked what it’s like at the Utah legislature and if it’s harder for northern Utah voices to be heard.

“I don’t know if it’s getting harder, maybe it’s just that it’s getting more obvious that that happens. But I would say this, you’ve got here sort of a super team. I’m so amazed at the strength of a Dan Johnson and a Casey Snyder and a Senator Wilson, the things that they do. And then across the mountain over here with Senator Sandall and Joel Ferry. Holy cow a lot of things get done,” he explained.

Petersen has the second session of the Utah Legislature now under his belt and he said things were a bit calmer this time around.

“I would say in most ways it was relatively calm. Of course we had that transgender bill that sort of overshadowed a lot of things especially near the end of the session.  But I thought it was a great session for water, I thought it was a great session, obviously, for public ed.  And I thought it was a good session even for our county here.”
