Logan Tabernacle Noon Concert Series begins May 30

The Good Times Marching Band will kick off this years Logan Tabernacle Noon Concert Series to be held at the First and Second Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday May 30, 2022.

LOGAN – Cache Community Connections has finalized the Logan Tabernacle Noon Concert and Lecture Series.  The venue changed due to the ongoing renovation project at the Logan Tabernacle.

Christie Needham plays the organ in the historic chapel of the first ward building during an open house Friday, Aug. 10, 2018.

This year, the popular series will be held at the historic, century-old Logan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1st/2nd Ward meetinghouse located at 89 South 200 West, directly across the street north of Logan High School.

There is plenty of parking in the vicinity of the church and high school. Year after year CCC selects some of the top talented individuals and groups to entertain locals and out-of-towners.

The series will begin at noon on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th with The Cache County Good Times Marching Band kicking off this year’s season.

The Good Times Marching Band started when Alan Edwards bought a tuba and wanted to play it. He and his brother John were raised in River Heights and played in high school marching band.

We are still living in Cache Valley and so we contacted family members and old friends about marching and playing,” John said. “The rest spread by word of mouth, and it’s been so dang fun.”

John said he is the director because Alan wants to play his tuba and he is the younger brother and he has to do what he tells him to do.

That is just the beginning of a summer loaded with all kinds of local music and lectures. Besides the daily noon concerts and lectures there are also six Friday evening events. There are no COVID restrictions this year, so far, for this year’s programs.

The building where this year’s programs are held is a smaller version of the Logan Tabernacle with lots of history,” said Richard West, a member of Cache Community Connections.

There are large white pillars in the front of the building. It even has a pipe organ that has survived several building remodels.

The floor in the chapel slopes toward the front, giving everyone in attendance an unobstructed view of the podium and choir seats and it has a balcony.

Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

Cache Community Connections (CCC) is  a group of interfaith religious and civic leaders in Cache Valley who came together and with a belief that spiritual leadership and unity are vital to the community’s well being.

The organization was formed in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001 when then Logan Mayor Doug Thomson extended an open door invitation to the leaders representing all religions denominations and civic groups in Cache Valley. Their belief was spiritual leadership and unity are vital to our community’s well being.

The Summer Concert series has been a highlight of summers in Logan since CCC began.
