Mary Ann Hopkins

January 26, 1931 – May 25, 2022 (age 91)

Mary Ann Hopkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, in North Logan, UT. Mary Ann was born January 26, 1931, in Hebron, Nebraska, to Joseph Frank Rauner and Odelia Colletta Dewald.

She married the love of her life William Newell Hopkins (Bill), on May 14, 1952, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George, UT temple. She was working at an air force base in Minneapolis, MN, at the base’s PX, when her future husband, Bill, walked into the store. After seeing him she told a friend that she was going to marry that man. They were blessed with 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

The most important things in her life were her family and the love of the gospel. She was happiest being with her family and serving in her many callings. She loved genealogy and was able to trace family history through many, many generations. She and her husband, Bill, served 2 missions on the island of Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea. They also served faithfully for over 18 years as ordinance workers/sealer in the Oakland, CA, and Provo, UT temples.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her three sisters, her brother and one daughter, Connie Papa.

She is survived by her remaining 4 children, Cheryl Cavalier, Linda Fisher, Mike Hopkins (Cindy), and Susan Allen. And her beloved unofficial daughter Peggy Grusendorf.

She had a great love for the staff and residents at Maple Springs Assisted Living Center in North Logan, Utah. Our family, and her, truly appreciate the wonderful help that was given to her during her 3 ½ years as a resident. Their assistance and graciousness will be remembered and our family can’t thank them enough.

She will be known as kind, generous, and loving, and will be dearly missed and we look forward to our family re-uniting once again with her and our dad, Bill.

Funeral services will be held privately.

Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and condolences may be expressed at www.allenmortuaries.com
