Ernest Junior Miller

November 20, 1925 – July 23, 2022 (age 96)

Ernest Junior Miller, 96, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Hyrum, Utah on July 23, 2022. He was surrounded by his family.

Junior was born in Hyrum, UT on November 20,1925 to Ernest Arnold and Florence Miller. Junior grew up in Hyrum with his parents and older brother, Lynn. He married Norma Louisa Ongsiaco on April 27, 1949 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

Junior and Norma raised seven children, son Kris Miller (Bonnie), daughter Debra M. Hammond (Lynn), son Mark Miller (Deby), son Ernest A. Miller (Teri), daughter Donna Summers (Alan), daughter Jan Atencio (Lorenzo), and son James Miller. Junior and Norma had 38 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

His faith, wife, and family were his priorities in life. Junior never met a stranger and always held out a helping hand for family, friends, church, and his community. Junior loved to be active in Hyrum, the town he loved so much. His favorite golf partner was Norma, you could also find him on the courses with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Biltmore Country club in Phoenix, AZ and was much loved by all he became friends with.

Junior, Norma, their children, and grandchildren snowmobiled and fished for many years up at his ranches in Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Junior held a pilot’s license and loved to fly, it was in his heart and blood.

Junior was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and he served faithfully in various callings. Junior and Norma were able to serve two missions together. The first mission was in Ghana, Africa and the second in London, England. Junior served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Junior worked side by side with his father, E.A. Miller and his older brother, Lynn, in the business E.A. Miller and Sons. After E.A. Miller passed in 1954 the two brothers were partners in making the business a renowned producer of Miller’s Blue Ribbon Beef. This company has since been sold to JBS. Junior, being the business man he was, then started up Miller Companies, a company that provides crops, compost, and raises cattle. These establishments have employed many of his best friends and family. He has always had a way with others, showing love and compassion to all he met.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, parents, Ernest Arnold Miller and Florence Miller, brother, Lynn Miller, son, Ernie Miller, daughter, Donna M. Summers, son-in-law, Jon Museus, and grandsons, Skyler Miller and Keaton Hill.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to his amazing caregivers, Berta and Gloria.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29th at 11:00 am in the Hyrum Stake Center, 600 South 200 East. There will be a visitation Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan and at the church Friday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery with Military Honors.
