Why is North Logan successful in attracting new business?

NORTH LOGAN — Almost every community in northern Utah has been dealing with growth. However, North Logan has seemed to prep a little bit more than other communities. On KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday, North Logan Mayor Lyndsay Peterson praised her staff in that regard.

“I think I’m the beneficiary of those (who) came before me. We just really have a forward-thinking staff and I think that they’re very vigilant in making sure that we’re reevaluating as new facts come in.

“But, yeah, I think we’ve really tried to be deliberate about the growth that we’ve had in our city. And we try to keep in touch with our citizens so that we know what they want from that growth, and how we want to grow,” she explained.

The area where growth is also evident is the city’s business community. Peterson said part of it is their unique location just north of Logan.

“But really I think it’s been a very deliberate decision on behalf of the city to really try to be a place that accommodates those businesses. Every month we go and visit a business within North Logan and just check in with them.

“They’re always kind of like ‘why are you here, is this an audit?’ But we’ve tried to check in with them and make sure that we’re doing what we can to facilitate their business in our city.”

In doing that, Peterson said they have discovered issues that are really annoying to businesses, but are really easy fixes for the city.  She said she wants them to know who she is and that they can reach out to her with their concerns.
